UK inflation rises in July

Wednesday 15th August 2012

UK inflation is once again increasing, official figures have revealed.

The Office for National Statistics data showed that prices in the UK were 2.6% higher in July than a year earlier.

The annual inflation rate as measured by the Consumer Prices Index was 2.4% in June.

Higher air fares and housing costs were behind the increase.

The CPI inflation rate is moving downwards, however, falling from a peak of 5.2% in September.
